Doc Joe’s Cares

Doc Joe’s Rooter & Plumbing Service is proud to participate in Megan’s Wings Adopt A Family Program once again this year. This year our family of six included a father, mother and four boys. The eldest son (9 years old) suffers from a relapsed Wilms tumor and is currently inpatient recovering from a transplant. Wilms tumor is the most common type of kidney cancer in children, with about 500 cases diagnosed each year.

We joyfully shopped and lovingly hand-wrapped every item on our family’s wish list from shoes to sweats and books to toys. In addition to the items on the wish list, we also provided gift cards for gas, groceries and clothing. We wish our adopted family a very happy holiday and most of all for a speedy and comfortable recovery for the young boy.

Megan’s Wings provides financial assistance to families with a child undergoing cancer treatments at a Southern California Hospital or Cancer Center. From their website: “December is generally the most cost-intensive month of the year for most families. Add the economic difficulties that often result from caring for a critically ill child, making December financially stressful for many pediatric oncology families. The Adopt A Family Program’s intent is to alleviate some of the financial stress this time of year for families with limited resources as a result of their child’s diagnosis.” For more information about this terrific organization, please visit

We’ve made it a priority to make sure Doc Joe’s cares and is giving back to our community.
